Myler Cheek Styles

22 English D ring (with hooks). 22 English D ring (with hooks).

Same as above but with hooks (slots).
When reins and cheek pieces are attached it turns the bit into a leverage bit.
A hole next to the cheek piece slot is for (optional) J hooks so a curb chain can be used, these are available from the on line shop.
Not dressage legal.

A direct action cheek, if keepers are used the bit will offer slight poll pressure.
Fulmer keepers are available from the on line shop.
Can be dressage legal if mixed with a dressage legal mouthpiece. 





24 Full cheek (with 1 hook). 24 Full cheek (with 1 hook).

Same as above but with hooks (slots).
The hook is for attaching the reins. This enables the bit to act like a leverage bit.
Fulmer keepers are available from the on line shop.
Not dressage legal. 





25 Kimblewick. 25 Kimblewick.

With its fixed cheek piece ring and choice of rein attachments this is a leverage bit.
Only available in a 4 1/2" and 5".
Not dressage legal. 





26 Pelham. 26 Pelham.

The Pelham has 3 rings, top for cheek pieces and bottom 2 for reins. Using 2 reins the bit becomes a mix between a D ring and a straight shank bit.
Pelham roundings are available from the on line shop.
This is a leverage bit.
Not dressage legal.




 





28 3" Loose ring. 28 3" Loose ring.

A simple ring with no fixed attachments. It allows the reins and cheek pieces to slide around the ring. It will allow the horse some play with the bit.
Mouthpieces on loose ring bits are made from sweet iron.
Can be dressage legal if mixed with a dressage legal mouthpiece. 





29 Eggbutt (no hooks). 29 Eggbutt (no hooks).

A direct action cheek.
Can be dressage legal if mixed with a dressage legal mouthpiece. 





30 Eggbutt (with hooks). 30 Eggbutt (with hooks).
The hooks turn this cheek style into a leverage bit.
A hole next to the cheek piece slot is for (optional) J hooks so a curb chain can be used.

Not dressage legal. 





32 Long shank combination. 32 Long shank combination.

The combination is a hybrid of a ring bit and a hackamore. The reins are attached to the ring at the end of the shank. Rein pressure is dispersed equally between the mouth, chin, nose and poll, allowing the rider to send a softer message. The raw hide noseband should be softened in water for a custom fit. This bit should be fitted snuggly on the horse.
Mouthpieces on combination bits are made from sweet iron.
Fleece noseband covers are available in assorted colours from the on line shop.
Not dressage legal. 





33 Short shank combination. 33 Short shank combination.

The combination is a hybrid of a ring bit and a hackamore. The reins are attached to the small bottom ring. Rein pressure is dispersed equally between the mouth, chin, nose and poll, allowing the rider to send a softer message. The raw hide noseband should be softened in water for a custom fit. This bit should be fitted snuggly on the horse.

The top triangular ring is to attach the bridle cheek pieces to, the larger round ring is for the reins.
This is a slight leverage bit.
